Hiking
The lake is a pleasant 10-15 minute walk down a nice level trail surrounded by the forest. Abundant ferns, wildflowers and the aroma of fresh woodland leaves & earth surround you. White tailed deer tracks & raccoon tracks can be seen all along the trail as well as tadpoles & small frogs inhabit the puddles in Spring. Excellent area for wildflower photography & bird watching. Dogwood trees bloom throughout the trail in Spring while Fall color is spectacular! Behind the shelter house is a grassy trail that goes around the back side of the lake.
To the left of the trail, just before going down a slope to the lake, there are large moss & fern covered sandstone boulders high up the hill. It's fun to scramble among the boulders & sit atop them gaining inspiration from quiet reflection of the wonders that abound in nature.
Boating & Swimming
We provide a paddle boat with oars, you bring your own personal flotation device. Its recommended that young children wear a personal flotation device at all times at the lake as there are frogs, tadpoles, butterflies & dragonflies they may chase. It's fun to paddle all along the shore & explore what lives all around in the woods & in the lake or just enjoy drifting.
There are 2 grassy beach like areas where you can lay your beach blankets out for swimming. The lake is spring fed , clean, pure & is a refreshing way to cool off in the summer months!
Campfires & Picnics
Hunting & Fishing
Campfires are great fun in the evening where you can see bright stars in the night sky, toast marshmallows & enjoy the out of doors! Evening campfires offer a great time to reflect as flames dance, bringing out creativity & imagination. We provide cut & split oak wood for a fee & is delivered to the lodge, lake or both.
Picnics are special at the lake. There is a nice shelter house with an 8 person picnic table on a cement pad, a Weber charcoal grill & a fire pit. It's nice to make a day of fishing, swimming & boating at the lake & have a nice meal lakeside.
You will have this private 80 acre secluded property all to yourself with no disturbance from any other sportsman or women in the area during peak season. The property will afford even the most clever hunter an exciting hunt.Stalk the elusive big old buck roaming the property, as local stories are told.
Why not try a line to catch the legendary 20" large mouthed bass in the lake along with small mouthed bass & bluegill.Along the banks are shallow, shady areas where the more elusive fish are often caught.
There is year round fishing including ice fishing. Bait is sold locally.
